French Fridge

This has "French Doors". And a bottom freezer that pulls out like a drawer. Someone got inappropriately excited about this

Goodbye to Kelvin

Kelvin was like an old jalopy.
I like jalopies, but this
is a fridge, not a hobby.
So we're replacing it.

The Living Room

Here are some progress-related images concerning the living room area. Of course, life does get somewhat chaotic at times, and we've done our share of that. Here's a kind of "before" picture, at left.

Then, at right, a much later version of the living room, post-tarp, post-painting, post-furniture-acquisition.

::Guest Bedroom Makeover::

Yuh, if you scroll down, somewhere below is what the "guest bedroom" looked like when we moved in. As a reminder, some of the principal characteristics were the lumpy blue wall-to-wall carpet and the pink-painted panelling. The ceiling was painted deep Cerulean blue.

So, in these pix, you'll see that we've removed the carpet and panelling, and disconnected the radiator from its fittings so we can paint it and repair the wall...a LOT of wall repair was required. At left, patching was complete and priming of the walls begun. Also, the molding at the top of the windows was replaced with the right stuff.

Then the next item of concern was the floor..it was linoleum under the carpet...not the good kind. Beneath the lino was some kind of particle board, and then, I guess, somewhere below that was the subflooring. We couldn't deal with removal of all this, so we decided to patch and paint the floor. At right: beginnings of that process. (click th' pix to see an enlargement)

These last two pix show a late stage in the floor renovation. Carol selected two colors, that would harmonize with the room, to make a pattern using some of the blue tape you see here.

Ze Painting_Studio

Here's a view of the painting studio, looking towards the north, where there are three large windows.

OK, this is a view from one of the studio windows. Our house is on a hill, so when we look out, we see lotsa stuff...

The Office Project=

This is the first major undertaking in the "renovation" of the house. This room is on the second floor, part of my studio complex--this part will be the "clean room", with books, computer, etc. The windows face south and east. There are maples outside, just turning when this picture was taken. At top: a middling state of the room. Panels and molding were removed. Plaster was patched, new casings and baseboard applied.
.................
At left, a slightly more advanced state. Paint has been applied, ultimately three coats. A very pale grey for the walls, and white for the casing and baseboards.

These last two are the final state, more or less. The floor has now been refinished, to the best of my ability (not that great). This project was a PITA, if you know what I mean. But it means that lots of stuff can find a home at last.
